Jennifer of Some Like It Paranormal does such an excellent job of keeping me up to date on all the latest books that go bump in the night, along with sharing about the swoon worth boys in said books, that I just had to know more about her.

Some Like It Paranormal

Thanks so much Missie for having me on your blog! Like everyone else I just love your Book Boyfriend Meme! One of my favorite parts of reading is discussing all the great swoon worthy boys.

What do I do when I’m not reading?

I love animals! In my life I have had a million pets. Everything from cats, dogs, mice, rats, hamsters, and guinea pigs. Cats seem to flock to me. I’ve always had a cat and always will. Right now I have three. I love spending time with them.

I love to hang out with my friends and go out to clubs or bars. I love dancing. I especially love going to Dive Bar in Sacramento because they have mermaids swim in the fish tank above the bar. They finally have mermen for the ladies too! It is really neat to watch.

I live close to San Francisco and also love going out there to eat and drink. Smuggler’s Cove has a pirate theme and really cool drinks served on fire. Anything on fire is cool! lol

Although I live in California sadly I don’t go to the beach much. I wish I did! I live hours away from the beach and the ones by me are really cold. When I get a chance to travel south I do love visiting the beaches in Santa Barbara and Malibu. I’m not good with cold so I usually just dip my feet.

I don’t live near the beach but I do live by the river. I love to go rafting on the American River in Sacramento. We usually go out there every weekend and just float down the river with some drinks. Really relaxing and fun. Also once a year I try to go white water rafting on Cache Creek. More rapids and excitement. We go rafting down the river, camp, then raft again the next day.

I also love to zip line! I went for the first time in Puerto Rico and now I try to find lots of different local places to do it. I found a cool place that also has cave tours. Now I really want to go on a cave tour soon too. It’s a great compromise for my friends since they are not quite as good with heights as me. I went skydiving once and really want to go again but I haven’t been able to talk anyone into going with me.

Usually before summer I try to cut off 10 inches of my hair to donate to http://www.locksoflove.org. I cut it a bit late last year so I’ll need to wait a few more months this year. I have a ton of hair so I love giving it away to a good cause.

That’s a little bit about me when I’m not reading! I try to find a few adventurous things to do each year since I do spend most of my time reading, especially in the winter. I really love snuggling up with my cat and reading when it’s cold outside. As a California girl you won’t catch me outside when it is below 60 lol

Thanks again Missie!

Jennifer! I love your adventurous life. I’ve always wanted to try rafting and zip lining, though I don’t think I’d ever be brave enough to try either. I know there is no way I’d ever go skydiving. I once tried bungee jumping and discovered, while I was 120 stories above ground, that I’m deathly afraid of heights. Next time, please take a picture of that merman. I need to see what a catch he is. LOL

One of my favorite things about book blogging is meeting new to me book bloggers. So, I was excited when I met Lauren of Shooting Stars Mag. Her blog is fun to visit because not only does she review books, she also reviews movies, and as someone who doesn’t get out to the movies as much as I’d like, it’s great hearing from Lauren on which movies are worth my time. Please help me welcome Lauren as we learn more about what she’s up to when her nose isn’t stuck in a book.

When I’m not reading, I tend to be doing other book-related things, to be honest. Most of my daily life is filled with all sorts of nerdful activities as well. First off, when it’s not summer break (which it is now) I am an English Literature major and Cinema Studies minor. I will be graduating in a year and then hope to go to Grad school for Library Science. I have been volunteering with my local library for about two years now, helping out at all the Teen events, as my future goal is to be a teen librarian.

My job during school is a writing tutor, which I do enjoy and it gives me a chance to work with a lot of people that I wouldn’t ordinarily meet. I also run my own freelance publicity business, though, and I work with authors and small businesses. It’s a lot of fun and I’m almost always taking on clients. You can find that at: www.laurenashleybecker.com

Now back to the nerdful activities I mentioned before. I have an amazing family and group of friends that love to go to concerts, watch movies, read books, and generally allow me to be as geeky as I want. Just recently, my sister and two friends joined me on a mini road trip to see Starkid (famous for the Harry Potter musicals) where I met a few of the members. This was my second time seeing them live and it was just as dorky and fabulous as before!

Basically, when I’m not reading (which isn’t very often) I have Harry Potter and Hunger Games themed parties, I see musicals, I take mini road trips with my bestie, I go to the drive-in theaters all the time in the summer, I try and write so I can be a published author someday, I enjoy every moment I get with my niece, and I continue to be an odd 22 year old that doesn’t drink and would rather spend time reading than going to a club.

Lauren! I wish I was your neighbor. I’d love to go to your themed parties. They sound so fun! And I often wish I could go back in time and get a degree in Library Science. What I have right now feels so useless. LOL! I’m very happy you are pursing your dreams, and I very much admire all your aspirations.

I love meeting book bloggers who share my enthusiasms for hot boys in books, so when I met Amy of The Ramblings of Amy, I knew I had to get to know her better. Yeah, I knew she reads and writes, but what else?

A huge, thank you to Missie for having me on her blog today! I was so excited when she asked me to take part in her When I’m Not Reading meme, her blog is one of my favorites. I just can’t get enough of her My Book Boyfriend meme, seriously, I’m constantly swooning!

I’m really bad at talking about myself, but here goes!

I have to mention my daughter, Madilyn. She is a breath of fresh air that I never thought that I’d have the opportunity to be blessed with. As an almost three year old she is very strong willed and some would call it the mother’s curse, since I was the same way when I was her age. None of that matters to me though. She makes it very easy for me to get up every morning with a smile on my face and go to bed every night feeling like I’ve just conquered the world. It goes without saying that I’m sure I’ll be going grey a little early, especially when we get closer to her formative years. But that is what dads are for! Since I’ve been with my husband for going on eight years now, I’m sure we’re in store for some fun!

Right next to her, I have writing. Or, I should really say, it has me. I see it as something as an aspect, one that was imaginative before I could even write out the alphabet. I remember being young and making up wild stories about dragons and princesses – all of course just had to be reenacted through my dolls. It was like a puppet show and I remember thinking, How could anyone NOT love this? Some little girls had their Barbie putting on a fashion show, I had her saving Skipper from the newly zombie Ken. Being able to finally form these thoughts through a pen, pencil, or even a keyboard became a passion that swept me away. Thank goodness for Amazon Kindle Direct, and it’s awesomeness of self-publishing, because it allowed me to be able to publish some works of my own!

Then of course there is reading. And oh boy is there! While writing is getting lost in your own imagination, reading is getting lost inside someone else. The idea of sitting down with a good book for the day is the perfect getaway for me, even during the brightest day of summer. Where else can you go on a rescue mission with a group of sexy Elemntals, fight a horde of zombies, fall in love with a boy from another universe, go on a road trip with a lusty demon, and so much more? It’s escaping into the fantasy of it all that calls to me and I don’t think it’ll ever get old. EVER!

While I’m on the topic of favorites, I should say my all-time favorite season is Autumn. I love the crisp cool weather on the brink of snow, the crunchy multicolored leaves that decorate my lawn, the scent of apple cinnamon and pumpkin spice, and all the yummy food that comes with Turkey Day. This love probably has something to do with growing up in upstate New York and with a family that loves all the fixings as much as I do. This time of year always makes me homesick, but the good thing about holidays is that it brings us all together.

Aside from all that, my favorite drink has to be mountain dew, something I’m getting a little short on at the moment, so I better scoot to refill my cup. What are some of your favorites? Hope everyone is having a great week so far! I basically watch TV every night after my kiddo is in bed (if I’m not writing or reading) with some of my favorites like The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle (which are both too awesome for words – I’ll be mourning TSC until TVD can make me feel better with the new season next year!). And I watch ABC Family for all the creative and exciting new series’, Grey’s Anatomy for when my inner doctor needs a good cry, and Game of Thrones because it’s basically the BEST!

Some Goodies to Share:

  • My job aside from writing is a stay at home mom, and I LOVE it! It’s not as easy as some people would think it is, but my daughter definitely takes me on some adventurous surprises.
  • I have a crazy obsession with pizza and popcorn (not eaten together – though it does sound appealing…) I could eat either all day everyday if my husband let me.
  • I have a HUGE problem with going all fangirl on books that I read and usually end up reading the ones that I really LOVE more than once. I could give examples, but I could literally go on for hours about them! So, for a time saver, I’m just going to say all that is paranormal romance takes the topping for me!

Thank you for having me!

Amy, I’m so excited that your writing career is taking off. That’s awesome. And Madilyn is adorable. I’m sure she keeps you very busy. I think I like summer best, even though it is hot as heck down here. And I can’t imagine anyone not liking pizza and popcorn. I used to pick up buckets of popcorn for dinner. True Story. Thanks for sharing.

Heidi of Rainy Day Ramblings has quickly become one of my favorite bloggy buddies because of her dedication and enthusiasm for books. Her reviews are always great to read because she breaks down the good and the bad. She also has a fun feature called Friday Forecast that helps me keep track of new releases. Plus, we both have a healthy addiction to read-alongs! So, yeah, with all the ways she stays bookish, I just had to find out what her life is like away from reading.

When Missie asked me to be on her blog I was thrilled. I know I am still a newbie blogger and being on Missie’s blog is a big deal, so big thanks to Missie for having me on today.

What do I do when I am not reading? Why stalk all of your blogs of course!

Yes, I love to visit other blogs and meet new bloggers. I am always excited when I get a comment from a new blogger because then I get to check out a new blog!

Ok, so what do I really do? I lounge around sipping cocktails and eating chocolate bon bons while reading and in the meantime my maid is cleaning my house and my personal chef is cooking up dinner. Yeah right….I wish!

In reality I am the mother of a 3 1/2 year old girl, Risa, and an eighteen month old boy, Mateus. At this age they are a handful and you don’t dare take your eyes off them for more than five minutes. Mateus, in fact, is suddenly opposed to wearing his pants and every time I turn around he is trying to yank them off. I just bought him a belt today because he only has three pairs of tight fitting pants and every time I turn around he is giggling and pulling his pants off.

They are great kids and yes, they keep me busy but I don’t know what I would do without them. Before I had my kids, I worked as dental office manager. Handling billing, insurance and any and all drama that occurs in the office, trust me you don’t want to know. After Mateus was born, my husband and I decided that I would stay home to take care of them. So my days are far from glamourous.

In my spare time (what is that?) I like to bake, make jewelry and candles, cross stitch and embellish anything and everything with glitter and Swarovski crystals. Everything looks better with some sparkle, well my husband disagrees when it comes to glitter on the garage floor.

I am still a relatively new transplant to Portland, Oregon. That is why my blog is named Rainy Day Ramblings. Previously we lived in Phoenix, Arizona. When the weather is nice here, I love to spend ample time in my gorgeous back yard.

We also love to go to the many farmer’s markets throughout the area during the summer months. I also try to spend as much time as possible with all my family back home in Idaho. I also like to waste time on my ipad surfing the internet and thanks to Missie and Felicia, The Geeky Blogger, I am starting a Pinterest board. I am sure I will be able to spend plenty of time on that site!

I started my blog in November 2011 after months of preparation and research. I have found blogging to be very demanding and time consuming, but I love it. In the last few months I have met so many amazing people and I am excited each new week at the prospect of new friends and more great books. I would love it if you stopped by to say hello. I truly do enjoy meeting new bloggers.

A big thank you to Missie for having me here today! Happy Reading everyone!

Heidi, I love the names you gave your kids. Very unique. And they are absolutely adorable. I don’t blame Mateus for not wanting to wear his pants. It must be so nice to be able to stay at home with them. Also, I lovethat picture of your craft work. You’re right, sparkles can make anything look better. Thanks so much for sharing today.

Ever since meeting Autumn of The Autumn Review, I’ve admired her enthusiasm for books and blogging. Her love for inky goodness is so contagious that I always feel rejuvenated when she’s around. She is also fantastic at vlogging, which made me curious about what else she’s up to when she is not reading.

First, I’d like to thank Missie for having me on her blog today. I started blogging back in November 2011 and Missie has been so sweet to me. She’s answered my silly questions and given some great book ideas. So, when she asked if I’d be interested in doing this post today, I said “Of course!”

What I do when I’m not reading is…..I’m a mom first and foremost. I have three kids under the age of 5, so they keep me on my toes. We have dance, soccer, school, and life keeping us busy.

Between running my kids around, I find the time to coach swim team. I was a swimmer when I was younger and my passion for the sport has followed me as an adult. I still swim on occasion for a good workout, but my involvement is mostly on the deck now instead of in the pool.

We’re fortunate to live in Florida, so I have many great things to do at my disposal. We’re fans of the Mouse, so we have Walt Disney World passes. We try to go a few times a month. I can sneak down with the kids during the week sometimes. Sea World is also near by, so we have passes there as well.

I’m about 20 minutes from the beach, so we go as often as we can. We pretty much live in either a pool or at the beach in the spring, summer, and fall. Florida stays pretty warm year round, so we try to keep cool when we can. I don’t handle heat well.

Let’s see, what else. I love to travel and explore new places. My husband and I were married in Scotland and look forward to going back again someday. Our next stop will probably be Ireland in a few more years. Once the kids are older and can appreciate the experience a bit more.

I’ve made some really good friends in the blogging community. We started our friendships on Twitter and now I can’t imagine a day going by without talking to my girls. We even have an #EPICPODTRIP2013 planned for next year. Could be very dangerous! For the most part though, you can always find me with a book in hand. Whether we’re at the park, zoo, beach, or hanging around the house, I squeeze in time for a book.

Thanks again for having me on Missie!

*packs bags* Autumn, get ready because you’re getting a roommate…me! I don’t do well in the heat either, but since I live in South Texas I’m kind of SoL. I’d seriously love to live in FL. It’s always been a dream of mine to visit Disney, which almost seems like an impossibility, so I’m a little green right now because you get to hang out there any time you want. How cool is that? And the swim coach gig sounds amazing. Now I wish I had kept up with my high school swimming so I could be in your shoes now. Thanks for sharing. :)
