Welcome to the final week of this read-along. We hope you’ve enjoyed it.
Chapters 21-27
1. Grizelmore the Goblin has some really weird cravings and eating habits. Tell us about some of your weird eating habits. Bonus point if you can show me a picture!
Weird eating habits? Hmmm… Well, most people think it’s weird that I don’t like seafood. I’m sorry, but it just grosses me out. Other than that, I have some pretty normal eating habits. Sure, I might like some ketchup on my eggs and syrup mixed in with my peanut butter but doesn’t everyone?
2. In chapter 22 Aiode and her friends try to go and get their instruments replaced at the factory. There are a ton of different instruments there being made for the fairies, but man are they a fortune. Do any of you play any instruments? Have you ever played an instrument? If not, what would you play if you could?
In high school, I tried to learn how to play the guitar. I thought I would be so into it, and my mom even bought me one. But I got frustrated with it quickly because I couldn’t move my fingers fast enough to play anything pretty, so I gave up. Not cool, Missie.
3. Jason and the band are finally discovered by the elf (with the crazy long name) and Buttercake the freaking adorable unicorn who turns into something not so adorable. If you were a detective who would you choose for your magical accomplice?
Ozzie, my dog! Sure, he might be a little too old to keep up, but I wouldn’t mind waiting behind for him.
4. The book ends on a happy but painful note. What do you think of the ending? Were you happy with the turn of events?
Yup, I’m a huge fan of the underdog getting the girl at the end.
5. Tell us your favorite quote(s)/part(s) from the book!
Buttercup! I just wanted to eat her…ummm you know, before she eats me. LOL

Questions for Chapters 14-20:
1. In the beginning of chapter 14, poor Jason is having a tough time at work. Its busy, people are rude, there are hot girls talking to him, big lady’s are about to starve, all in all bad work day. So tell us about a time when you had to deal with a pushy customer or rude behavior, did you freak, keep it together, throw a slawburger?
I’m an advisor at a university and every week on Thursdays and Fridays, we have Freshman Orientation. The days are long and tiring and hot. It usually doesn’t take long for a student to get frustrated with the process because classes are closed or because they have to wait in line to get the services they need, and since I’m in the forefront, these frustrations are usually directed at me. But I love working with students. And since I am a student, I try to put myself in their place to best figure out solutions that will benefit both parties. Plus, I can usually get them to throw me a couple of pity laughs at my lame jokes.
2. In chapter 16 Jason is getting ready to shoot his rocking music video and perform for a crowd. Have you ever made a rock video, been in a play or anything that shows you doing something with musical talent? Extra points if you want to show us.
I totally deserve extra points for these pictures because they are about 15 years old. Yes, I was in theatre in high school, and I had to rummage around for a while, but I did manage to find pictures of me from my musical theatre performance of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” I played Charlie’s sister, Sally. *dies of embarrassment*
3. Speaking of videos, the boys have a little chat about Steven Spielberg in chapter 17, what is your favorite Spielberg movie? Can’t think of one…well then tell us about one of your favorite Sci-fi movies.
Goonies Never Say Die!
4. At the end of Chapter 17 the guys say bye to Dred who is getting ready to move, did you ever have to start over in a new school or new place when you were in highschool? Was it good, bad…horrible?
Are you kidding? My family moved all the freaking time. This is why I don’t have any childhood best friends, besides my sister. LOL.
I’ve lived all over Texas, from Galveston, to Santa Fe, to Edcouch, to Lake Jackson, to San Marcos, to Austin, and finally to the RGV. This is why at age 25, I decided to buy my own house, so I wouldn’t have to live out of boxes anymore. Problem is, now I’m stuck with a mortgage, and that kind of sucks.
5. If you had a pet Unicorn what would you name it?
Edward.
And just for fun: Would you rather be pecked to death by a vulture or eat a Goblins toenails???
If I could dip the toenails in Ranch dressing or whipped cream, I’d go with the toenails.
Prizes!

Questions for Chapters 7-13:
1. Unfairly grounded by his parents, Jason decides to lie to them so he can go to the audition in Minneapolis. Unfortunately, not only does the audition end poorly but his parents discover his lie and things go downhill from there. Tell us the most outrageous lie you’ve ever been caught in. Bonus points if you can provide pictorial proof. Reenactments eagerly accepted.
Well, I don’t have a middle name, and for some reason this really embarassed me when I was a kid because all the other kids around me had middle names. So, I made one up. I told everyone that my middle name was May, yes, I used my birth month as a middle name. But sometimes, I forgot and I changed it to Ann or Maria. Needless to say, people quickly caught on to my lie, and then I was even more embarassed. Oh, the fun of being a dumb kid, actually, I might have been a teen at the time.
2. In Faerie, Aoide is summoned to see the Faerie Queen. Have you ever met someone important like the Faerie Queen? Someone famous? Tell us the story behind how it happened. Once again, pictures are a plus!
I’ve met a few famous people. Probably the ones that stand out the most, beside the amazing authors I’ve met, are Perez Hilton and Alexander Skarsgard, aka the most beautiful man on earth. I even got brave and interviewed Alex with my camera phone. Talk about embarrassing! I interviewed Alexander Skarsgard with a camera phone. W.T.F?! Who does that? Here’s the proof:
3. Caught lying to his father about his non-existent job at the car wash, Jason has now found gainful employment at Buddy McSlawburger’s – where he’s forced to wear “the funny hat” as part of his uniform. What’s the worst job you’ve ever had? Did it involve a particularly noxious uniform? Tell us about it – in riveting, full-color detail!
Besides working at a plasma donation center, one of the worst jobs I had was as a cashier at Taco Bell. I only lasted a week because I couldn’t hack the mopping, the toilet cleaning, the smell I came home with, or the uniform. Wish I had a picture to share.
4. In an effort to regain their stolen instruments, Aoide and Rhodia travel to the sugar swamp to hire a hunter. Wouldn’t you love to live somewhere where the water is sweet and the grass is made of sugar cane? Show us a picture of you enjoying your favorite sweet treat. Or, rewrite history and tell us how your version of the sugar swamp would differ from the one in the book.
I recently made a watermelon cake, I got the recipe from Tina, and Jen helped me figure out the watermelon flavor. And I’m pretty proud of the fact that it came out really good. My family loved it, and requested I make another. I’ve since made it three times. LOL

Chapters 1-6
1. At the beginning of the story, the Assorted Zebras are just a garage band, but they are expecting to make it big. Who knows, you just might find yourself at one of their concerts someday. Until then, show me your favorite concert t-shirt. It could be a picture of a concert you actually attended or a pic of a vintage tee of your favorite band. Be sure to tell me the story behind the tee.
I shot this video clip at the 2009 No Doubt concert at the Woodlands in Houston! Best. Concert. Ever. I was a bit delirious because I had just got off a 14 hour plane ride from London to Texas. I was jet-lagged and dead on my feet, but this show totally revived me.
I still have my t-shirt from the show. It’s my favorite. But I didn’t put on the shirt because I didn’t want to mess up my faux-hawk. LOL
2. Jason’s mom forces him to agree to do some yard work for Mrs. Dullahan, which wouldn’t be so bad if she wasn’t rumored to be a witch. Tell me about the worst chore you were ever forced to do. Who make you do it? Bonus points if you have a picture to share of you doing the dirty work.
I remember when I was young, I used to love helping my mom wash the dishes. Now, I loath it. Which is kind of inconvenient because I love to bake and make milk shakes and coffee. I just don’t understand why I can’t hire some dish washing fairy to come clean the dishes for me everyday.
3. Uh oh! There seems to be a jewelry thief in the neighborhood. Have you have had anything stolen from you? Or have you ever lost something precious? Did you ever find it? Make a Reward if Found poster for the stolen or lost item. Convince us to find it for you. Make the reward good!
My Jeep was stolen. I haven’t seen it since 2004, but I’m still holding out hope that it will be returned to me one day. I am offering a 100 cupcake reward to whoever brings my baby back.
4. In Faerie, Jason declares himself as Jason the Guy Who Wants That Necklace Back. Weird, but then again every name has a meaning. What does your name mean? What is the origin? Do you go by any kind of nicknames? How did you get that nickname?
My name is Melissa, and its origin is Greek. And surprise, surprise, but it means HONEY BEE! I love the meaning. The myth goes that a Greek nymph fed honey to the infant god Zeus and was later transformed into a bee as punishment.
Now I’m obsessed with bees. I have a bee tattoo, and I collect bee stuff. I know. Weird. And I think everyone knows my nickname is Missie. Very unoriginal.
5. When Jason gets home from his all night adventures through Fairy, his parents unfairly ground him for a month! Care to share a time you were grounded by your parents for no good reason?
Oh, yes. I remember the time I was unfairly grounded for staying out past my curfew! But what my mom didn’t understand was that it was senior year and none of my other friends had curfews. I felt too embarassed to tell them I had to go home, so instead, I suffered the consequences.

1. In Chapter 21, David and Sarah venture into a grocery store to try to find some essentials. Show us a picture of the top three items you consider your essentials when you go shopping.
I love to snack! It’s a weakness. So I always have to have snake food on hand. This is my new favorite combo. So Yum!
2. Sarah and David travel quite a distance to “visit” a family member. Show us a picture of your most recent family vacation. Who did you visit and where did you go?
Back in April, my sister, mom, a couple of friends, and I spent a long weekend at South Padre Island. We were there to celebrate my sister’s 30th birthday. It was such a fun and relaxing weekend.
3. Sarah refers to David’s sister as the Martha Stewart type because she likes to make things from scratch. Show us a picture a hobby or home project you get enthusiastic about making/doing.
Umm…I’m not very creative or good a crafts, and you’ve seen my baking efforts. My newest passion, beside cycling, is participating in 5Ks, like the Hog Dash I did last weekend. Training for these events is more fun that I ever thought it would be! So I guess I would say my home project is me. Logging in treadmill time with an audiobook is the hobby that takes up the most of my time. And I’m very proud of my collection of 5K and cycling bibs!
4. David and Sarah decide to start up their own Zombie exterminators business, and even come up with a name and slogan for it, “S and D Zombie Extermination. We take care of your undead issues.” If you opened up your own zombie killing business, what would you call it, and what would your slogan be? 5. What were your favorite/least favorite parts of Married with Zombies? Aside from David and Sarah, who was your favorite/least favorite character?
I totally loved the opening scene where Sarah and David are fighting off their therapist. It really got the action started and sucked me right into the story. And poor Amanda. I loved her! Her milky grey tears tore me up.
6. What do you think is coming up next for David and Sarah? Which do you think has a better chance of survival, their marriage or their humanity? Will you continue reading this series, and if so, what do you hope to see happen in the next book?
I don’t really like to read zombie novels, but I love watching zombie movies/shows. Weird, I know. BUT, I love the humor and characters in MwZ, so yes, I’m definitely going to check out the rest of the books in the series. I am a fan of David and Sarah’s. I want them to make it, not just to live, but to make their marriage work, despite the crazy odds they are facing.
