Since I’m a huge supernatural fiction reader, I constantly find myself toying with the idea that there may be other types of beings out there, or at the very least, that supernatural things can manifest from great magic or powerful beliefs. So, I’m thrilled to have author K.L. Glanville to share her views on this way of thinking. Check it out, and don’t forget the awesome giveaway at the end of the post.
Thank you for hosting me on your blog! It’s a privilege to be here.
I will openly admit it: my favorite genre for reading and writing is supernatural fiction. I enjoy looking for the fantastical in the real world and putting it into fiction. My latest book, 2108: Eyes Open, definitely has some supernatural elements in it. At first glance, it doesn’t seem to have as much as my previous book…or does it?
Jewel, the main character of 2108: Eyes Open, is pretty pragmatic. Practical. A naturalist, or as they’re called in my book, a Natural. She values the natural word and the purity of being as nature intended. She hasn’t altered herself genetically or had any technology implanted in her body, as others in her time have. As for the supernatural, Jewel believes there may be something supernatural in the world or universe at large, but it doesn’t really seem to have much to do with her and her life. She’s fine leaving well enough alone.
However…when strange things start to happen around and to her, she gets quite surprised, and in some cases, doesn’t even realize it might just be something supernatural going on. Like when a person gets transported from one place in the world to another. Is that supernatural or some other kind of phenomena? Another time, she has some kind of vision of someone speaking to her. Or was it her imagination? How often are we caught like this, drifting through life looking at the normal and natural until, bam, something hits us like a bucket of ice water—something we don’t understand or doesn’t fit in our present frame of reference. Sometimes we’re able to ignore it, but if we let it, these instances can make us stop and think, and look differently at what’s going on around us. They can make us question. Sometimes we find new answers and perspectives. Sometimes we’re left with only more questions yet to be answered.
I hope you’ll enjoy journeying with Jewel in 2108: Eyes Open as her eyes get opened in new and exciting ways!

It’s the year 2108. I just turned 16. That means I can access the autopilot on my Aerokopa. So now, I can both fly and scope the Dat-X at the same time. But what good is that when I don’t even have a date to my best friend’s party of the century? Okay, well, one of the Holdouts offered to go with me . . . but there’s NO WAY I’m going with one of them! And then there are the Trollers docked at the quay. They’re most likely spies working with the Aliens, bringing nothing but trouble. But with this visit, they may even bring war. It would be treason to talk to them, let alone . . . befriend one. But what’s a curious girl to do? Did I tell you I have a propensity for trouble?

Thanks to Luminations Media Group, Inc., I have a signed paperback copy of 2108: Eyes Open, plus five 2108 Bookmarks to accompany the book!! Best part is, this giveaway is open INTERNATIONALLY! Anyone can enter!!

My favourite genre in reading and writing is supernatural fiction too — we have that in common!
I have to admit that I’m a trying-to-branch-out sort of girl, but I think that supernatural books will always be my #1! And Jewel sounds like a person I’d be friends with in real life because we both like naturalness: no makeup and no hair dye, or whatever else there is! Meaning I don’t have to spend hours in front of the mirror like my older sister x)
Awesome guest post, KL! And I love your hat, by the way — it’s so cowboyishly cool!

I’m like Jewel–I try to think of reasonable explanations for crazy situations. I can’t imagine actually living in a paranormal world, though! Thanks for sharing, K.L.! =)

It’s a fun thing for me to think about – the idea that there might be supernatural elements out there. I think it’s safe to say that if Missie and I ever found out vampires were real, we’d die of happiness and pounce on the first one we saw expressing our undying (ha!) love. Sounds like this is going to be a fascinating story, thanks so much for sharing Missie and K.L.

There is my twitter status for you. Love the cover on this one and it sounds so different and exciting, plus I love anything paranormal. So sign me up for the giveaway! I really liked the ending line, “Sometimes we find new answers and perspectives and other times more unasmswered questions.” Awesome thought! I love books that challenge you to think outside the normal parameters.

I’m always down for a supernatural read. There is something about the thought of magical beings and powers that is intriguing and almost intoxicating. It’s fun to read about ordinary things that aren’t so ordinary after all. The concept for this one sounds interesting.
And thank for the awesome giveaway!

As much as I enjoy reading supernatural books, I think I’m too much of a chicken to want to experience anything supernatural in reality. The idea intrigues me but I’m all too aware of the dangers of the supernatural. There are really some great reads in the genre out there and more still coming out, so I expect my bookshelves will never be void of supernatural delight. I wish you all the very best with your future writing!

Oh, I totally love supernatural stories – while part of me looks for natural answers, part of me always longs for a supernatural answer!

I love reading novels involving supernatural elements mainly because I don’t believe that anything supernatural exists. There’s a reasonable explanation for everything. Yes I’m a skeptic

All I read is PNR, PN, UR, Dystopian, etc… you get the gist. I never read anything that doesn’t have some sense of the paranormal in it. I used to long ago, I loved John Sandford, Patricia Cornwall, Sidney Sheldon, James Patterson, etc… then one day I read the Twilight series and I never went back!
Yes, I admit that the Twilight Series changed my life! That and Kim Harrison’s Dead Witch Walking! Before I knew it I was reading strictly PNR-primarily YA but not always
I think there is a whole world of things happening right before our eyes that we’ll never know about. I’m not saying I’m a believer in all the books I read, I’m just saying I’m a believer in the paranormal! Big Time!
I love to be scared as long as I know I’m safe and what better way to do that then through books (and roller coasters!) That’s why I get so much joy out of them. There was a time when I’d gotten tired of busty bosoms and lenghtening loins (LOL) because it was all the same-predictable and that’s the main reason I started with YA but give me Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, etc… anyday and I’ll read them because the sex scenes aren’t so tawdry and stupid!
Okay, nuff said on that! Great giveaway, chica!

[...] Is the Supernatural just fiction? Author K.L. Glanville doesn’t think so in her guest post. [...]
