Kiss Me, I’m Irish read-along: Chapters 1-5

Kiss Me, I’m Irish is a read-along of HOUNDED by Kevin Hearne, and hosted by Felicia of Geeky Blogger’s Book Blog, Amanda of On a Book Bender, Ash of Smash Attack Reads!, Jen of In the Closet with a Bibliophile and me!
Join us for the HOUNDED book discussions at anytime. Follow THIS LINK for more details and to sign up. Anyone who participates will have a chance to win some real cool prizes!
1. Kevin Hearne had the most perfect beginning for this book: “There are many perks to living for twenty-one centuries, and formost among them is bearing witness to the rare birth of genius.” If you were to live for centuries what do you think you would be excited to see?
Oh, man! Where do I start? Those all inclusive vacations to Mars, flying cars, and the Michael Jackson clone. He’ll probably be able to do the moonwalk on the moon, and I don’t want to miss it.
2. In the 2nd chapter we learn about the amulet and its protection powers! Do you think having met the Morrigan and heard about Aenghus Og that it will be enough to protect Atticus? I mean the Morrigan has a point about hot chicks coming after him and his defenses might be down! He is very male!
Though I’m inclined to say that everyone’s luck runs out at some point, I think Atticus is too smart to ever have his defenses down completely. He’s already survived for two millennia, and that couldn’t have been easy to pull off. I think his distractions are more for “show”, to fool people into thinking he’s distracted when he is really sizing them up.
3. The literary world’s coolest dog is introduced in this chapter! Did you love Oberon immediately? Show me a picture or describe the type of animal you would love to have as a talking companion! (Cat, Dog, Mouse, Sloth, Horse—what is your pick–pictures please)?
Yes! I LOVE Oberon. That is why I have him hanging out with me on the March header for my blog. LOL!
My dog, Ozzie, is 11 years old. I’ve had him since he was three months, so he’s pretty much stuck being my constant companion. I’d love it if he were able to talk. Then maybe we could have a long discussion on why he insists on lying on my bed with is butt on my pillows. Though I have a feeling he’d probably tell me it’s payback for not walking him enough. Old fart acts like he doesn’t get spoiled with his favorite treats!
4. In this chapter Flidais asked Atticus what his name is and then precedes to ask if anyone actually believes he is Greek? He says nobody pays attention to names here. Do you know what your name means and where it comes from? Or do you have a name you wish had? Let’s talk names!
My name means HONEY BEE!!! I love that. When I was a youngling, my mom always called me her little bee. One day, when I stopped to notice, I asked why, and then she explained the whole meaning of names thing to me. As a kid, this fascinated me. Since then, I’ve felt like I’ve had a kinship with bee. I mean, I’ve never been stung by a bee and coincidentally, my high school mascot was a yellowjacket!
Oh, and FYI, I MAY or may not have a Bee tattoo. Seriously, 18 year olds shouldn’t be allowed to get tattoos, especially ones that they think look cute on a greeting card. *sigh* Tattoo regrets aside, I still obsessively collect things with bees.

| This is just the Bee stuff I had near by, there’s more scattered all over my house! |
5. We learn about Atticus’ lawyers in this chapter, a rather unique combo! Without jumping ahead, would you hire a lawyer combination of two supernaturals who on the surface would appear to be natural enemies or at the very least two very Alpha attitudes? What would be the positives and negatives of that decision.
I honestly don’t think there could be a better law team than a vampire and a werewolf. The obvious positive is that they’d find a legal way to suck dry any court room threat! The neg would be they’d probably suck dry the client in the process.

We need immortality to see all these stuff, come to think of it becoming a vampire seems like a better option day by day
Ozzie is adorable bb <3

Bzzzzzz~~ LOL Missie, that has to be the cutest thing I've ever heard!! You were your high school mascot! x) You just got me curious about name meanings so I searched up Mimi on babynames.com and got this: “Diminutive Form Of Any Name Beginning With M.” See that? Diminutive Mimi! LOL! But besides that, I definitely agree! If vamps and werewolves could work together, they would make an epic law team!
I love your answers and I LOVE your dog, Missie!! Ozzie and Oberon — their names are just so cute together!

Oh that is cool about collecting Bees! My nickname (and almost every Felicia I know) is Flea—I never felt the need to collect those
Bees are da bomb and so stinking cute!
I love your dog and my brother's dog does the same thing with the pillows—cracks me up!
I want to see all the things that happened in Back to the Future come true!

Your pup is so adorable! I love that expression on his face.
I agree with your insight about Atticus–he pretends to be a bit unaware sometimes but he's really getting the full picture before diving in. I suppose that comes with centuries of experience.

@Heidi, No, I'm too embarrassed by my bee tattoo to show it off. LOL
Reply
@Prangon, Right? I don't think being a vampire would be so bad either. :[
Reply
@Mimi, So I could be considered a “Mimi” too? YAY! Now we match like Ozzie and Oberon.
Reply
@Flea, I didn't know that was the nickname for Felicia. I'll have to remember that when we meet.
And the fact that your brother's dog does the same thing is more proof that we belong together. LOL!
Reply
@Lalaine, Oh, you have a puppy! I miss Ozzie as a puppy, he was just too cute back then. I'm sure your pup will have many years together.
Reply
@Mary, Right? Atticus knows what he's doing at all times, or he can at least fake it really really well.

Aww! I love that that's what your name means! Now I really want to see that tattoo…it can't be THAT bad…come on!!!
I never thought about Atticus using the seduction as a delusion…that's awesome and probably right on! I mean…he has survived over 2 thousand years already..if he was that overwhelmed by women he probably wouldn't make it past 2 decades…

Honey Bee!!!!! That seems so fitting:) Even though I've never actually met you, I feel like honey bee suits – you always seem to be buzzing about and have lots of energy to fight with me on Twitter over a certain group of boys. And you certainly need energy to maintain your harem, so a cute little honey bee (of the non-stinging, greeting card variety) seems perfect. Have a great weekend Missie!

Although I've only read the first book, I'm curious to find out what Morrigan has planned. She is uber-creepy, but a fascinating character nonetheless. Things could get really interesting between these two.

*cough cough* dragon *cough cough*
That is so Atticus! He's always trying to make people think less of him so he can STICK IT TO THE MAN in the end. *sigh* He can stick it to me anytime! And, I think we should make a pact to moon walk on the moon. It's so going to happen. Although, we may need to do that once we are uber rich as it's going to cost us a fortune. Lucky for us they are going to learn how to prolong our youthful beauty!

Ohhhh Im trying to get this done…Im only on chapter four with the listening and I might not be able to join the read-along until next week…**cries** but so far the book is pretty hysterical- I love Atticus, I may have to fight for this book boyfriend girl!!!!

Missie, you always have the cutest blog designs.
Also, I love Ozzie. He's so pretty. I want to steal him.
Every time I see something bee related, I'm going to think of you now.

I think Fiona did that name question just for you. That explains Missie Bee. I could collect Aim toothpaste. I haven't decided if he is Ozzy or Ozzie. Is your Ozzie a healer? We gave a red & a blue healer. They aren't nearly as nutty as Ozzy, so they didn't make the pic.
I would let Atticus size me up. Oopsie, I divulge too much.

What a cutie your dog is! Anyday now I expect my dog to speak to me because she's so like a little person. I loved the Hounded book and am enjoying your answers to the discussion. I too am name obsessed and LOVE my name. Your bee collection is the cutest. As for Atticus, I swoon all over again just thinking about him. How awesome was he? And I loved his supernatural lawyers, they made everything even more interesting.

Okay, you know I think Ozzie is just too adorable! His butt just needs extra pampering.
Trust me… I know about dogs and their cute butts. LOL
Now I have to say… MY name means honey bee. You can't steal it! And since you tried stealing my sweet name *cough* I think that means I get to see your bee tattoo!
I also want to see your complete bee collection.

Ozzie's awesome! You know he's blowin' farts on your pillows for a little evening aroma therapy, LOL! Gotta love em'!
Your name meaning 'Honey Bee' is too awesome! That's a cool collection of bee's you have! I love it! My name means 'The Annoited One or Christ Bearer', Honey Bee is so much funner!

I am so angry the comment I made this morning isn't here. Who the hell knows what I did wrong. It was pre-coffee.
So, I LOLd at the tattoo comment because I totally agree that 18 y/o should NOT be allowed to get a tattoo. I may or may not have Taz on my shoulder. Yes, Taz from Looney Tunes.

omg… I was read your 1st answer and thinking wtf.. But then I realized you were talking about the future. lmao. MJ clone?! hahaha.

Coming to one of your questions: YES I did love Oberon right awayHow can you not instantly love this dog??!?!
I love names but, my name is truly boring (and I'm glad my parents are not reading this) but Daniela comes from Daniel which is some sort of biblical name… Yeah there you go.. I LOVE your name hon!

Now why couldn't I guess that you had a honeybee tattoo! You're certainly full of surprises.

Your dog is so adorable:) And I like all your bee things! I did chuckle a bit about your tattoo regret. A bee, huh?
All I hear are amazing things about this series. I look forward to reading the rest of the questions through the month. Happy reading!
