Welcome to the 6th stop of the Starcrossed Blog Tour run by Kismet Book Touring! For today’s stop, I have a guest post by author Josephine Angelini, plus another piece of “The Letter That Was Never Sent” below.

This is so embarrassing. I used to be this really interesting person—I swear. I remember when I was in college in NYC I used to look forward to riding on the subway so I could have a moment to stand there and think. It was a chance for me to just be still for a moment, even though I was technically still moving. Back then I was always running around, going to museums, listening to Indy bands in dive bars, going to poetry readings in cafes, and generally posing as a hipster. What happened to me?
The truth is, I don’t do much of anything anymore besides read and write. I barely even watch TV, although I admit to being addicted to Game of Thrones, Weeds, and Mad Men. I’m so boring all of a sudden, and I have no idea how I let it get like this.

I still go to museums. I love the Getty here in So Cal, but I’ve been so many times I don’t go to see the collection anymore. I go for the architecture and the outdoor space. I usually hang out in the courtyard and write, so I guess that doesn’t count because I’m supposed to be telling you what I do when I’m not writing. I never go to hear live music anymore, but I think that’s because people stopped playing it. And poetry readings—well, I totally lost my taste for them. I think I woke up one day and said to myself, “why the heck do I go to these things, anyway?” And I just stopped.

Here’s the ugly truth. When I’m not reading or writing I’m at the gym, the grocery store, or doing laundry. Occasionally, my husband and I will look at each other and say that we miss this or that friend and then we’ll call them and make dinner plans or something. And that’s it. That’s my life. And I don’t feel bad about it at all. I love to read and write so much that there aren’t many things I’d rather be doing anyway.
So I guess what I’m saying is that I’ve gone from an in the know gad-about-town to a giant loser. And I couldn’t be happier about it.
Thank You for sharing, Josie. I think a lot of people would rather be home-bound now a days, or at least, I know that is what I’d rather do.

About Starcrossed: goodreads
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it’s getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she’s haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they’re destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.

About Josephine Angelini: (website)
Josie was born in a tiny town in Massachusetts called Ashland. When she meets people from Massachusetts and tells them ‘what part’ she hails from, she usually gets one of two answers. The first is: “Ashland. Isn’t that in Oregon?” And the second is: “Did you just say Ass-land?”
Her next stop was about as different from her hometown as it gets without leaving the country. As soon as Josie was legal, she packed a bag and moved to New York City to attend NYU. Somehow, she managed to squeeze in a little higher learning between bartending shifts and graduated with a BFA.
Massively in debt with college loans, she then moved to Los Angeles for reasons that are still a little blurry. Something about the weather was mentioned, and a vague idea to write poetry and find herself. She found that she is a terrible poet, but she never gave up on the writing bit.
Josie still lives in Los Angeles with her husband and now writes YA fiction.

It does seem less and less bands are playing live, at least here in the desert. A sadness, for sure. =(

Absolutely love this post and it makes me want to get to the Getty museum right now!
and… I'm so in love with Games of Thrones too!

Honestly… the biggest part that I'm jelly over is being able to watch the Game of Thrones. I need HBO. Oh any author who loves GoT, I need to read! Lovely post! More live music!

Oh, but the life you're imagining and vicariously living through in your novel is very exciting – who needs poetry readings?!

Um, is it sad that I totally want to know where Josephine Angleini got that laundry sorter? This is great. And it makes me feel sooo much better about being a stay-at-home myself.

I love this feature and the fact that she admits she really only reads/writes and hits the gym
I think it is perfectly ok to have a few things we really like–sometimes I wish I was more active but really most of my social activities are centered around book !
What a beautiful kindle cover!

It's not about how much you're doing, it'a about being happy and it sounds like she is! And she gets to have such exciting adventures in her stories! The kindle skin is so pretty!

I have a pretty boring life too so it's all good. It seems like a lot of people like Game of Thrones so I'll have to see what it's about. I'm dying for new TV shows anyway.

I'm really enjoying this tour so far! On to the next!

You know, I'm kind of looking forward to the time when I can consider myself “boring” haha. Life during school is so chaotic that I'm ready for a full-time job and a set schedule. Thanks for being part of the tour
