Thanks to HIMYM I’m fascinated with Canadians, so it is really no wonder why I think Lucy from Moonlight Gleam’s Bookshelf is the cat’s pajamas! Relatively new to book blogging, Lucy is already making waves with her awesome book blog. But reading isn’t  the only thing she does for fun.

Let’s see what else Lucy is up to when she is not reading, eh?

First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Missie for having me featured on her fabulous blog!!! *HUGS!*

I am sure most of you don’t know me as I have only been book blogging since November so this is me!

Hello Everyone! I’m Lucy a.k.a. Moonlight Gleam. I’m from Montreal, Quebec in Canada and I enjoy meeting new people with common interests around the blogging scene.

When I’m not reading, although reading is my main hobby, I do devote my spare time to other hobbies as well. As some of you know, I have a passion for photography. I take black and white photographs, mainly portraits of people. The pictures you see below have been taken with a Pentax 35 mm camera and printed in a dark room by me. This took several hours if you are not aware of the process but, I loved every minute of it! Since the photographs are too large to scan, I have taken pictures of them =). Here they are:

A more recent hobby of mine is experimenting with makeup, specifically, all shades of eye shadows. Although I have a whole set of makeup brushes, I have to admit, I still don’t know what more than half of them are used for *bows head in shame*. As I am still knew at this, I don’t have much of a makeup collection as you can see below, but I hope to expand my collection really soon!

Last but not least, another one of my long-time hobbies is coin collecting! Bet you didn’t see that coming! I do not collect coins for profit; I collect old and used coins which are out of the usual and from different countries usually with little or no value. These are coins you can find in your everyday change, but with a special edition design on the face of each coin. One of my favorite collections is my U.S. quarter collection. I have nearly found all 50 States with just a few more left to go. The little list you see in between my small collection is a checkmark list of the 50 State coins I have found and those I still need to find.

Well that’s all from me! Thank you so much for taking the time to read about me and my hobbies! I look forward to meeting you all around the book blogging community!

Thank you again Missie for having me here!

Moonlight Gleam -xox-

Lucy, I was once a coin collector, too. But the venture was short lived as soon as I walked by a vending machine. *sighs*

Also, your photographs are absolutely lovely. Many ‘moons’ ago, I minored in photography in college. I still do it as a little hobbit, but am sorely out of practice. And what type of girl would I be if I didn’t love makeup brushes, though I don’t wear much makeup so I’d be no help in being able to tell you which to use and for what. LOL! Thanks for sharing today!

Hey Lucy,
A pentax K-1000 was what I learned on and I loved it. I do know the developing process and those pics are gorgeous.

I like to play with makeup too. Too bad we don't live closer to each other, I'm sure we could have combined our interests of makeup and photography.

Lucy your pictures are stunning! I was a photography major in college so I remember long hours in the darkroom as well, but there's nothing cooler than seeing your pictures develop before your eyes:) I'm deplorable at doing makeup, so I envy you your interest in it:) It's probably a good thing I work from home and therefore can look like I just rolled out of bed all day and no one will know!

Lucy – what cool hobbies! I used to do coin collecting when the state quarters first came out. It was fun.

I recently won a DSLR in a raffle and am trying to figure it out. Your photos look gorgeous. Someday I'd like to get decent at picture-taking.

@Alison Thank you! I hope you managed to get more states than I have so far! All you need to know are the basics, but you must take a look at the manual or camera forums if you want to learn the more difficult things! If you need help let me know ;)

What a fun feature. My dad used to collect coins, but it was never something I really got into. I do wish I could get into photography though. Your photos are great, and I think it seems like a very interesting hobby. :)

Awesome pictures! I love black and white photos. Nice coin collection. (Missie, funny comment about the vending machine!) I used to collect stamps. I have so many. But I never put them in a book. I really should do that.

Reply

by Moonlight Gleam on February 26, 2011

@Julie Thank you :) ! I used to collect stamps as well! I stopped after a year though.. it takes a long time to properly get the stamps removed from paper if they were used (the sort I collected which were mailed around the world hehe ). You should definitely place them in a book or get a binder with some plastic sheets that you can place the stamps in :)
