To Hate and To Hold by Dakota Rebel

Can Jamie and Ethan overcome their hatred for each other before the vampire marriage they are cursed into kills them both?

Jamie McHale has always hated vampire prince Ethan Connor, and Ethan loathes him right back. One dark and stormy night the two men tangle in a violent altercation that leaves them somehow bound together in vampire marriage.

It becomes very clear that the magic of the marriage bond will get what it wants for them, regardless of the men’s feelings toward the situation. The curse wants them together, and as they spend time with each other they start to wonder if this really was a curse at all.

Review:
While riffling through Tara’s at 25 Hour Books mailbox a few days ago, I noticed a title that caught my eye. Intrigued, I followed the link to Amazon, saw the smokin’ hot abs and pressed the Buy Now with 1-Click button. And I’m happy that I did.

I’m not sure if it was the author’s intention to make this story so freaking funny, but I couldn’t stop laughing at every turn of the page. Ex-vampire prince Jamie McHale hates current vampire prince Ethan Connor with a passion. So when they find themselves bonded to each other after their latest brawl, it is most inconvenient, especially since in order to keep from dying they must consummate their bond.

Forced by the bond to live together to keep from passing out from the pain they feel when they are apart, things between Jamie and Ethan quickly heated up in the bedroom…and the shower…and the kitchen table even after they continued to knock each other around.

Thus begins the sex fueled adventure of two stubborn male vampires who are both trying to come to terms with their love for each other. While it was refreshing to read about a world in which same sex relationships weren’t considered taboo in the slightest, there really wasn’t much to explain the circumstances of such a world. At first, I was completely clueless and confused about the vampire society presented. It took me a while to figure out that the vampires lived among humans in an “out of the coffin” fashion in present day, but there was little indication of how this came to be and how it was so widely accepted.

There was some explanation of vampire politics, but the history was muddled, especially with the mention of vampire hunters. Overall, the groundwork just wasn’t very strong, and there were some obvious syntax errors. But I think all of that was easy to over look because the hate him till you love him romance between Jamie and Ethan was humorous and hot.

Still, I was left with one very perplexing question ringing in my ears, “Why do male vampires have to use condoms?”

Quote that make me howl:

It’s not every day that your grandmother tells you that you must fuck your mortal enemy or die.

Certainly not, Jamie. *snorts*

Nice review. Not my type of book, but the synopsis sounds good. And you said it made you laugh. That's always a plus.

This doesn't seem like my type of thing because I hate vampires haha but it seems like a good book! Great review, Missie!

HA! That quote is hilarious as is the question you were left pondering:) I have to say I'm a m/m book virgin (outside of the Qhuinn/Blay situation in BDB, but nothing has really happened there yet – can't wait for their story though) but maybe I just need to get in there and give them a try:) Thanks for the review Missie!

OMG Missie I wrote that in my review too (which goes up tomorrow)… why the condoms?! Was the author just wanting to preach safe sex?

So glad you liked this! I'm adding a link to your review because I got lazy and just did a mini one :)
