Would anyone care to tell me WTF I was thinking when I signed up to do that NaNoWritMo thingy? Yeah, sure, it is all fun and games until someone spontaneously combusts for lack of ideas or words on a page.

Oh well, why the heck not? Considering I write about zero words a day how hard could it really be to jump to 1,666 words to complete a 50,000 word novel by November 30? Thank goodness it is completely unedited!

To add to the strangeness of this hot mess ahead of me, my story idea came to me last week while I was in Vegas! True story.

While hanging out at the Thunder from Down Under show, and “listening” carefully to the host do his bit, an idea for a novel hit me right in the face. Unfortunately, that was the only thing that hit me in the face that night.

To add to the misery mayhem I will be voluntarily putting myself through, it is a YA novel! Here is the proposed synopsis:

Bean & Babe

Just because a guy and girl are best friends doesn’t mean it can’t stay that way… right?

Benny Anderson is the new kid in a small town. And he doesn’t exactly fit in. He is tall, awkward, and geeky. To make matters worse, his father is the new head basketball coach and expects Benny to shape up to be the star of the team.

Barbara Beaver hates her name almost as much as she hates high school. She’d like nothing more than to remain invisible among her peers until she can leave loserville and head to a big city with her big ideas. First thing on her to do list, change her name to something exotic. Next, become a famed photographer.

She never imagined she’d make a friend.

He never imagined he’d cross the line.

So… that’s all I’ve got thus far. Not much I know. *bites nails* I still don’t really know who the heck my characters are. They are not talking to me at the moment. I guess Bean and Babe are kind of embarrassed that I reveled how they were born. LOL!

Anyhoo, I’m not really that worried about the novel writing stuff. It’s just for fun and no one is going to read it except maybe my mom… if she is really, really bored one day.  If you need a writing buddy, I’ll be around, probably lurking on the NaNoWritMo forums. Username: missie_bee. Please feel free to add me as a buddy or let me know your username so I can add you.

Happy Writing!

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you… Never really written a word before and have no idea how I'm going to get through 1000+ words a day for a month to add to my matters I've got a new class starting the second week in Nov.

I really like your story and it's something I'd read, maybe I need to work out a summary for myself like you have. Do the two meet when the Barbara is taking shots of the basketball team for the school paper? Just an idea :)

I added you as a buddy. I'm thetruebookaddict over there. I'm asking myself WTF too…sort of! I don't even have my plan together yet, but I'm planning on writing at night (late…I'm a night owl) so I'm going to plan tomorrow. Also, I read somewhere that 1,667 words per day is the equivalent of 6 pages. It's much easier for me to wrap my mind around that then the word count. LOL! Great story idea, btw! Good luck. I'll be rooting you on!

Oh, Namesake … I feel your pain! I have joined in on Nano in hopes to get a good start on my novel idea I've had for a while, but I don't know how I'll find the time to actually get to it – especially with all the reviews that have to be finished this month!

I do like your story idea and I think you'll do wonderfully! Can't wait to read it!! ;)

@Miss Holly! Thanks for the idea! I like it. Good luck with your class and with the writing. We can do it!

@Michelle, I added you as a writing buddy too! And you are right, 6 pages is much easier to wrap my head around. Thanks!

@Namesake, I can't wait to hear more about your story! I'm sure it is going to be great.

@Nely, I'm totally your fangirl, too :)

That's fantastic!! And a great start!

Sometimes I wish I had the guts to start one of the stories floating around in my head, but then I remember that I would rather spend that time reading :)

Woohoo! I think your spontaneity is awesome and brave! i hope the words just start flowing because I think you have a great idea/story. We are proud supporters of anyone who writes, we just don't dabble in the actual writing process :)

Good luck to all of you who are participating! We will be your cheerleaders!
