When I’m Not Reading featuring Missy’s Reads & Reviews

First off, I want to thank my namesake for inviting me to be a guest poster on her When I’m Not Reading feature. It’s an honor!

Alright, confession: When Missie first asked me if I’d like to participate, I thought, “I’m a housewife. What in the world can I talk about?” I think I have finally figured it out, so I hope you guys enjoy.

Let’s start with the love of my life, partner in crime, better half, best friend, and all of those lovey-dovey terms that you use for your husband. This is my husband, Nick and me at church. We started dating over seven years ago, when I was 19, and have been married for over three years now. The funny thing is that I couldn’t stand him when I first met him. He kept calling me “Misty” and it aggravated the crap out of me! Granted, we met at the club he worked at … so, I guess he could use all of the noise as his excuse – which he does. Constantly. Once we started talking out of the club, I got to know him and fell absolutely head over heels. I’ve been that way ever since.

Then there are the pets – my constant entertainment throughout the days. In the left picture, we have Dilla, Stormy, and Optimus Prime – my three babies. On the right, we have Taz … who is actually my Mom’s dog that she adopted from my sister-in-law. I’ve known Taz ever since he was a pup and belonged to my sister-in-law. Out of our family of Chihuahuas (I have two, Nick’s parents have two, S.I.L. has one), Taz used to get the least attention… so, I always played with him. Since Mom got him, our bond has done nothing but grow. He’s definitely the smartest out of all of the Chihuahuas – I sometimes wonder if he thinks he’s a human boy instead of a dog. These four take up a lot of my time. More entertaining than most adults, yet more needy than children sometimes. Ha.

I could go through a list of things that I do with my days outside of being a housewife, blogger, and fanatical reader: I play video games, decorate, paint, do crafts, listen to music, watch tv shows, write on one of my twelve works in progress daily. However, I thought I’d be a little more specific. There’s a card game that Nick and I were recently introduced to called Gloom (pictured above) and it’s pretty much taken up a lot of our spare time. It’s a card game. I won’t go into major details, but the point of the game is to choose a family of five and make a story up about their lives – only, you make it horrible. The objective of the game is to make their lives completely miserable and then kill them off, that way their afterlife is wonderful. The one who kills of their family first wins. Horrible, right? Oh, but it’s so incredibly addictive. And they have expansion packs! I haven’t actually tried one yet, but they sound awesome.

So, there it is. Not the most incredibly exciting things to do, but they all keep me busy and keep a smile on my face.
