Nuts, Skins, and July Babies!
I got a couple of my best Viking lover girlfriends celebrating B-days this month, so I thought I’d give them a little shot out!
First up, nycsnowbird, aka my brilliant Queen of Rants, b-day is TODAY!! She get’s me like no other (makes me wonder about her mental state of being)!
Next up, my lovely Vampster: KristinCP, b-day on July 27!!! She had me at, ‘I have an ACD, too; aren’t we so cool?!’ Our love for NO DOUBT inspired me to send her this awesome GelaSkin!

And then my little ninja, LindsayK, b-day on July 30! Linds knows webfu and is not afraid to use it! One of the things I admire most about her! *le sigh* And because I’m determined to litter the world with GelaSkins, I sent her one, too.

Oh Missie. *cries tears of joy* You are such an incredible friend. Between our love of Queensland Heelers, and the fact that you share a birthday with my hubby, we were obviously meant to be.

I need to explain the squirrel or people are going to think Meads AND I are weird.
Here's what happened in the Spring. My sister had been hand rearing some baby squirrels and let the babies finally go after a couple of weeks of bottle feeding. She lives next door to me.
I watched her babies (a male and a female) for several weeks fight territorial battles and claim my property for their own. I have, after all, several bird feeders fully stocked. It's squirrel haven here.
Okay, so at some point late in the Spring, her female was being chased by every male squirrel in the neighborhood. I was watching this courtship (read: rape) behavior and the males were running the poor female ragged. They were a pack of wolves hunting her, chasing her, jumping on her, wrestling her down and taking their opportunistic turns.
Animals!
They would stand up (much like the little guy in the photo) and fight with each other. Then they would smooth their bodies out in the grass and lie there until they had energy again to go chase the female.
She didn't have a chance. They were relentless. And every time, I am seeing these displays. I mentioned it on the thread … I never knew squirrels had such large testicles! I mean, they HANG! Were it a human, they'd be down to the knees.
Well, that started some explosive laughter on the thread when zeewriter laughed her ass off and other women joined in. Like … why was I looking? Well jeez gals, it's kind of hard to miss!
I mentioned it in passing to meads. And she remembered. Now I have this b'day remembrance to mark the occasion.
