Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 7) by J. R. Ward

Product Description
Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood-even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him-and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.

Review
Delightful surprise! I really felt this book got the series back on track as the main plot of Rehv and Ehlena’s story was just as interesting and intense as the side stories.

I think what I enjoyed the most was the way Rehv and Ehlena developed their relationship.  Their shy phone conversations were so sweet, and remembering the way the whole, “You hang up first” “No, you hang up first” makes a girl feel was fantastic.  Yes, their story was very much bad boy tries to win over the good girl, yet Rehv and Ehlena were portrayed in a way that had them proving they were characters of worth with Rehv turning himself over to the Sympaths to keep Ehlena safe and with Ehlena going off to rescue Rehv.

Although Lover Avenged is penned as Rehv’s book, I was glad to see the return of Wrath as a main character in this story.  Truth is…I miss the brothers.  But with so many characters, I guess it is kind of hard to give everyone equal face time.  Even as Wrath continues to (reluctantly) rule as king, he returns to the battle field to fight in the war against the Lessers, which was great until he lost his eyesight completely, truly becoming The Blind King.  While I was saddened by this development, I was also kind of relieved to discover that there would be no easy way for this problem to be fixed, no divine intervention by the Scribe Virgin.  Last thing we need is for Wrath’s eyes to be replaced with a set from a ghost. *snorts*  Plus it make his struggle more valid and relevant to the overall context of the story.

As per usual, my growing love for John Matthew and his boys (Blay and Qhuinn) had me giddy over the fact that they got their fair share of time in the book.  John even finally losing his virginity to Xhex; albeit she was kind of harsh on the poor gent, it works well for creating a continuing story between them.

Lash, son of the Omega, proved to be a disappointment to his father as the leader of the Lessening Society.  His obsession with himself worked great in making you roll your eyes every time he came on the page.  I will say that the final fight scene was full of exciting action as Lash put his new powers to the test when he met up with the brothers in a stand off.  The perfect balance of action and romance make this book a must read!

Truly adore Rhevenge and I also found the telephone calls super sweet. It showed the contrast between Rhevenge and the Reverent.
And Oh boy he's hot!
It was a great book in the series and I love Rhevenge a lot!!

Love this book too! Like you, I was charmed by Rehv's and Ehlena's romance. I like the look into Beth's and Wrath's life after their HEA and like you, I like that there was no intervention from the SV with his blindness. However, if there had been nothing about Beth and Wrath here, I wouldn't miss it. I wish there had been more Rehv and Ehlena though. :)
